If you don't have the required amount of teaching experience for a position (typically 3 years), it is highly likely you will be asked to complete a TEFL course before you get started.
We've put together a short guide to explain what a TEFL course is and how to complete it.
A TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course is designed to give individuals the skills they need to teach English to non-English speakers across the world and in the UK. The course covers teaching methods, communication skills, grammar and much more to help you succeed as an English teacher.
DO I NEED A TEFL CERTIFICATE?
Most of the jobs we have available require specific language teaching experience or qualifications, such as a degree in teaching languages or a certificate proving that you've completed an internationally recognised language teaching course (e.g. TEFL, TESOL, CELTA).
A TEFL course is one of the fastest (and often most affordable) ways to get an English teaching qualification that is accepted in China if you don't have the experience or a specific degree.
However a few schools don't require a TEFL certificate, so make sure to check the job descriptions on our job board or contact us to find out if you'll need one.
HOW LONG DO THE COURSES TAKE?
The length of the course is dependent on the type you choose. There are weekend courses, weekday courses and online courses.
We recommend you take an online course as it's often cheaper and more accessible; these take 1 to 3 weeks to complete (approximately 120 hours total).
HOW DO I ACCESS THE DISCOUNTED COURSE?
