Visa Guide

Once your documents have been legalized and you have received your work permit, you will need to apply for a Chinese Z (work) visa.

 

The steps for candidates in the UK are as follows (for a step-by-step picture guide click here):

STEP ONE

Head to the Chinese Visa Application Service Center website (please head to the link to see a detailed explanation of the application process) and go to the Quick Access page to book an appointment. Download and print your reservation form to take with you when submitting your application. 

Applications must be submitted in person to the Chinese Visa Center at:

  • London Embassy: 12 Old Jewry, London, EC2R 8DU

  • Manchester Embassy: Ground Floor, 71 Moseley Street, Manchester, M2 3HR

  • Edinburgh Embassy: 2nd Floor, Exchange Tower, 19 Canning Street, Edinburgh, EH3 8EG

  • Belfast Embassy: Chinese Welfare Association, 1 Stranmillis Embankment, Belfast, BT7 1GB

Please check opening times before going to an embassy.

Once you have completed all sections of the online application, you will need to print out the forms and sign them.

STEP TWO

When you attend your appointment you will need to take:

  • The completed application form.

  • Your original passport (this must have at least 6 months validity remaining and 2 blank pages).

  • A photocopy of you passport data and photo pages.

  • You legalized documents

  • 2 passport photos (taken within the last 6 months and following British passport photo guidelines).

  • Your work notification letter. 

STEP THREE

Once you have submitted your completed forms and additional documents, it will take approximately 4 working days for your visa and passport to be returned.

 

You will need to plan to arrive in China within 3 months of your visa being approved.

 

Please be advised that the Consulate may request additional documents to support you application and, as of 1st November 2018, the Consulate will need to take your fingerprints as part of your application.

VISA APPLICATION COSTS

The cost of a Chinese Work Visa is broken down into visa application and processing fees, this can be paid in cash or by credit/debit card at the visa center.

The total cost is £170 for standard service.
